Guillermo Vargas Ruiz, (Bollullos de la Mitación, Seville, June 7, 1910-Madrid, 1990), Spanish painter, engraver and professor. Trained in Seville and Madrid, he expanded his knowledge in the United States. In 1964, he was appointed professor at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts, from which he moved to the Faculty of Fine Arts.

This artist had a long career that began with impressionistic modes. His accomplished craft allowed him to give his paintings a poetic and intimate atmosphere. An excellent draftsman, he successfully cultivated engraving, a modality in which he obtained a gold medal from the Círculo de Bellas Artes of Madrid.

"Don't paint objects, look at the whole and paint the general atmosphere with color."
