Pablo PICASSO

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Ruiz Picasso (Málaga, 1881 - Mougins, 1973) is considered one of the greatest exponents of universal art and the most influential artist of the 20th century. Picasso's genius lay in the constant reinvention of form, perspective, and line, forever revolutionizing the plastic arts during more than seven decades of uninterrupted activity.

Picasso was a child prodigy who mastered classical technique from a young age, though he soon left academia to join the Parisian avant-garde. His career was characterized by constant stylistic reinvention, from the melancholic Blue Period and the more luminous Rose Period, to the revolution of Cubism. In his maturity, he explored languages close to surrealism and worked intensely in engraving, sculpture, and ceramics. Politically committed, he used art to denounce war and violence, reaching its maximum expression with Guernica (1937).
